Since time immemorial, grandmothers have dedicated their time and love to crafting soft, charming, and handmade clothing, toys, and decorative items for their families and homes. What began as a simple pastime, knitting, embroidering and crocheting have evolved into intricate arts requiring skill, precision, and immense patience. The magic of transforming a simple ball of yarn and a pair of needles into something beautiful is a testament to human creativity and artistry.
To honor this talent and showcase the artistic prowess of the resilient and hardworking women around me, I founded Maayeka. The term "Maayeka" holds deep cultural significance, referring to a mother’s maiden home—a place of comfort, love, and nostalgia. Through Maayeka, I aim to provide a platform for these incredible women to share their creations and subtly celebrate their remarkable craftsmanship.
